Some books begin with a marketplace opportunity. Others begin simply because I can't stop thinking about a subject.
I've always made room for projects driven primarily by personal curiosity — books that have given me an opportunity to explore history, literature, photography, film, identity, or culture from an angle that interests me.
That curiosity remains an essential part of how I approach publishing. I pay attention to what people are talking about, watching, eating, collecting, remembering, rediscovering, and becoming fascinated by.
Sometimes those observations become books. Sometimes they simply lead to the next idea.
